National Independent Consumers and Farmers Association - NICFA

has affiliated associations throughout the United States. NICFA offers a national presence for support for consumers and the farmers they purchase from. The mission of NICFA is to promote and preserve unregulated direct farmer-to-consumer trade that fosters availability of locally grown or home-produced food products. NICFA is: Pro-Consumer ~ Pro-Farmer ~ Pro-Freedom ~ Anti-NAIS.

NICFA is part of the struggle against the implementation of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). As the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) is moving towards cooperative agreements with individual state agencies to implement this program through monetary grants to the states, individual state organizations are an important part of this fight. Please visit our STATE ASSOCIATIONS and UPDATES page for information on your state affiliate and what they are doing.

NICFA is committed to assisting and supporting Independent Consumer and Farmer Associations throughout the United States. Anti-NAIS

NAIS imposes on all livestock and animal owners a high-tech, high-cost livestock backtrack system requiring:

Registration of any premises where even one animal, a chicken, pet donkey, etc� is kept, in a database accessible to many agencies and foreign governments.
Radio Frequency ID (RFID) microchipping or tagging of every animal.
Reporting and recording each animal�s movements within 24 hours, under threat of severe penalty, including confiscation of animals and fines of $1000 per day, per infraction.
